Atlantis prepares for its final dive
If you’ve ever wanted to take the Atlantis submarine tour, you’re running out of time.
Atlantis Adventures, which operates Atlantis tour submarines throughout the Caribbean and in Hawaii and Guam, will cease its St. Thomas operations at the end of May.
We regret never having done this, but we did recently observe it surface, offload passengers to a waiting boat, and take on new passengers from another, before submerging again near Buck Island, St. Thomas.
This was a totally random and unexpected encounter. Imagine sitting there in your boat minding your own rum when a submarine surfaces right next to you. We almost fired the cannons.
Watch one of the Atlantis submarine’s last St. Thomas dives, below!

Very cool! I won’t get back to St John till the end of July so I guess I will miss this attraction!! Oh well!

Well…for those who enjoyed it, I guess they’re sorry to see it go.
I guess I need to remove this from my list of “St Thomas has XXX, St John has YYY”
As in… “St Thomas has submarines that create adventure, St John has ‘pick up a damn snorkel and go chase a tarpon’”
I like St John

A few years ago we thought we saw it go by as we were sitting on the deck of our villa “minding our own rum.” I’ll have to go back and look at the video again to really make sure!
Mary Beth: You still have time to make the submarine tour. Maybe Ruth can go with ya!

If you miss the submarine, you can always ride it in the cinematic classic,
Weekend at Bernie’s II, or catch it on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKn3__kcbv8&feature=related&fmt=18 (sorry, no sound)
Here we have Bernie walking out into Megan’s Bay..then all of a sudden he’s walking by the sub clear on the other side of St. Thomas.. for a dead guy, he sure knew how to get around even with the harpoon stuck in his head.
That Bernie, what an actor…
