Diana Ripley’s Animal House
Did you know you can take a cat or a puppy home, even if home is in the states? That’s just one way you can help the St. John Animal Care Center.
Wagapalooza raised about $25,000 for the ACC this year; a big chunk of money, but it won’t get this shoestring nonprofit to their long-term goals.
Meet the ACC’s Diana Ripley, and some sweet dogs and cats looking for a home, below!

Awww, another great interview!! I have never been there and always wondered what is was like. Now that I know you can come and walk a dog, I’ll have to stop by on my next trip to the island (and possibly bring home a cat!)
Thanks for sharing this

Diana and all people that help her doing excellent work. We adopted a puppy back in summer 2006 from ACC. Named him Maho after Maho bay. He is a happy dog living in New Jersey now. After learning where Maho came from several people wanted to do the same. So we are referring them to ACC!

She has a good heart and great plans for the ACC. Hope they all come to fruition!

Hi there,
I am currently fostering a wonderful 1.5 year old named Frances (because she’s a girl) who was found abandoned at Francis bay. She looks a lot like a vizsla and is as smart as a whip. She is apprehensive with tall men and doesn’t like tall black men (she seems to be ok with short black men) so I want to get her off St. John to a great home. She has become fast friends with my golden and cat. She follows me everywhere and just needs a loving family.

What a super, well made video about the good work going on at the St. John ACC! And, move over Angelina Jolie. We have our own Diana Ripley! You were so right about coming to walk the dogs at the shelter. It definitely brightens one’s day to know you have made a sweet, lovable dog so happy. I got jealous when I saw the walkers and their tail wagging pooches. That settles it. I’m a cold weather person and my husband can’t get me to come with him to St. John. Yes, I know I need help…. But, I’m a comin’ next winter and I’ll be down every day to walk the cute cute puppers. Hats off to Connie Joseph too who runs the shelter with an iron paw. Keep up the good work everybody!

That was really a heartwarming feature, sniff… Next time down, we are definitely going to pay a visit. We had no idea that you could walk the dogs. We just rescued a 2-3 year old cat from a shelter here at home. We named him Johnny and it suits him to a “T”. His middle name is Maho, LOL.

Diana is amazing, and many other dedicated volunteers make the center successful – especially Connie, who has saved more day-old motherless kittens than you can believe! Walk a dog, make a donation ~ It’s a wonderful opportunity to do something for the animals of St John!
Thanks for the great video showcasing our excellent Animal Care Center!
