What’s up with the old Subway
The old Subway has undergone a patriotic face lift. It’s not a new bar. We hear it’s the Governor’s St. John re-election headquarters. Or, maybe something for Festival. (We’re flying blind on this one. The Governor doesn’t have us on speed-dial.) Anybody got a better story?

Fireworks sales for the 4th. At least around when the flags pop up on an empty building near the 4th. The sparklers and bottle rockets soon follow.

Looks like a fire works stand to me

Maybe the reviewing stand for Carnival? Thus easing congestion at the Boat Docks.

I heard last fall that the building had been bought by someone who was going to put in a new restaurant eventually. (Heard this from a reliable local source on the East End who had been considering where to open their *own* restaurant in Cruz Bay… lamenting that they had just missed their chance on that building.) Hearsay only; do with that what you will.

I wonder why no red rock?
June 30th, 2009 07:42
Cool! They even painted the rocks!

Totally looks like a fireworks store or a viewing platform for the parade.
IF it’s fireworks, be sure to do it the NC way and sell the beer right next to them!

Who cares what it is… it looks way better!

I do know that at one time it was going to be the intown sales office for Sirenusa but, that didn’t happen. kind of hard to justify to the bank spending $4k a month when you’re heading into bankruptcy.
I do agree with Lynn, it looks much better.

I have to agree with everyone else. It looks like a fireworks stand. Here in Michigan we all cross the border into Indiana and go to a place that looks just like this to get the really “good” stuff. You know, rockets, mortars, fire crackers, etc. the stuff you can’t buy legally in Michigan.

Democratic Party headquarters in anticipation of elections in 2 years.

Buddy,
We Hoosiers appreciate you crossing the border to buy our fireworks (just be sure to sign the waiver stating you will ONLY light them in governmentally approved areas)…but on your next visit PLEASE visit any of our lovely casinos (I hear the ones in Gary are particularly nice)…We really need your money and our state legislators are betting the farm that the casinos will save us. We have state of the art football stadiums and basketball arenas that we can’t afford… In fact, I encourage all OSJ readers to maybe forgo St. John this year and visit wonderful Indiana…
“Indiana,it’s just like the Caribbean except without the views, beaches, fish, palm trees, laid-back lifestyle, salty breezes, etc…”
That’s a TRUE story…the honest to God truth!

It’s either a whistle stop for the Gov’s next campaign on the world’s shortest railroad (the Love City Express) or a reviewing stand to watch people stumble out of Woody’s (face plant into the fence…ouch!)

Looks like a used car lot.

I kept my money there when it was Scotiabank

If you ask you will find out it is indeed a re-election office………….
