Putting the ROUND in roundabout

The Cruz Bay roundabout is really very close to being a roundabout now.
There is still some driver confusion. A flagman is sometimes there directing traffic, sometimes not. Sometimes there are two of them.
And there’s a stop sign in the circle that doesn’t belong there. If you’re in the circle, you’re supposed to have the right-of-way. You can drive round and round all day without stopping if you want.

Actually, it looks like they are putting the Dabout in Roundabout…..they should just rename that intersection, “Confusion Union”.

if the taxi driver in the above picture can’t figure out which way to go in circles then how are all of our vacationers going to figure it out!

I’m looking at it and my head is starting to spin. Then, I found myself trying to figure out how to get through it by moving my hands around in circular patterns. I expect to get us all killed next summer when I ram into a dump truck.
This would be nice…on the way into the circle, kinda divide the road with some of those tall, skinny reflective post things. That way, I can’t go right when I enter the circle. Of course, that won’t happen, and as mentioned, I’ll get us killed by going the wrong way.

The hilarity that will ensue will be priceless.

hmmmm, so when coming up the hill and turning left on to centerline, I do not need to stop?
I can not wait til Nov…….granted I will be not be drinking so may be easier…..:)

So… if I’m coming from town and heading for Marketplace for example, do I go straight (as it appears the taxi in the picture is doing), or circle to the left around the pile o’ junk (as I would have expected)?

We need a roundabout cam…now that would be fun to watch.

That is the funniest thing I have heard all day: “You can drive round and round all day without stopping if you want.” I think at the next roundabout I come to, I’ll just carve off about 20 minutes worth of circles. Thanks!

Oh my goodness too funny! While you’re driving “round and round” please insert theme music of “Pop Goes The Weasel”. That’s usually what we hum while looking for parking in Cruz Bay.

I have seen some crazy intersections, and I think roundabouts are wonderful solutions as long as the larger vehicles can maneuver them easily… and if there are not too many lost souls circling and circling and circling to the delight of the circle cam watchers…..

its not a roundabout yet, its still just an intersection but with roundabout like features. you do have to stop at that sign. that section is sort of a mini-one way street. but dream the big dream, and someday soon you can can drive round & round all day without stopping
