A dinghy for $5. If you win

The annual Raffle Off a Dinghy fundraiser for Kids and the Sea is underway. $5 buys you a shot at this beauty. See it in person outside the St. John Hardware Store.
As a bonus, it appears to come with a Handicap Parking sticker!
The drawing is Nov. 28 at Skinny Legs.

I’d love to be involved/contribute. Is that possible online?

This is a great program with really committed instructors and organizers and a pile of motivated kids from all over the island having fun and learning to be safe on the water at the same time.
According to the web site for KATS (see link above), you can send tax-exempt contributions by mail.
Too bad you will miss out on the kids selling the raffle tickets in person, though. They’re awfully cute. Makes it really hard to say “I already bought tickets from the kid who was here yesterday.”

What a wonderful program. Who donated the dinghy? Wow!! That is one fine looking boat and a very generous contribution to this fine cause.

In 2004 I remember that a friend of mine in Coral Bay, much to his girlfriend’s chagrin, bought a somewhat dilapidated boat that came with a totally dilapidated dinghy. Barr was really riding Chris’ butt about the crummy dinghy and he said,”Don’t worry about the dinghy, as I bought a KATS raffle ticket and I’m going to win a dinghy.” Barr said, in front of many witnesses, “If you win that dinghy I’ll take it as a sign from God and never give you any crap again.” Of course Chris won the dinghy, we called Barr “Dinghy Barr” afterwards, and no, she didn’t ever give him any crap again. True story, except the last part.
