Iced coffee, holiday style

I Scream in Wharfside Village is offering up a little holiday cheer.  Eggnog lattes or iced coffees, with eggnog straight from St. Thomas Dairies.

“We’ve gone through five gallons of it just in the last two weeks,” Barista Missy Bergene tells us. “They are awesome. We dust the top with a little nutmeg too.”

I Scream is also making peppermint mocha for the holiday season.

Eggnog’s good stuff. But don’t order a second one!

    Eggnog and rum. Hmmm. Interesting.

I think the correct answer is Maker’s Mark, but I’ll take this assignment.

rum works in nog just fine. In the store yesterday, I bought some. The child asked me what it tasted like and if I planned to drink it out of the carton. I replied that I couldn’t say what it tasted like on its own because what’s the sense in drinking eggnog without rum?

Last night we had it with a shot of Tortuga and some nutmeg…freshly grated of course.

I love the nice little touch on the label “Recombined” and the 50% cholestorol & 56% saturated fat! Ity sounds like slogging through this beverage is like the 8 Tuff Miles” of drinking!

Aah, that reminds me of when growing up on Christmas Day my Dad would make a huge bowl of homemade eggnog, from scratch, with raw eggs of course. It was delicious, creamy & frothy. My sister & I drank it “virgin style” & didn’t worry about the caloric intake in our youth. Can’t say the same today. I would like to wish all fellow bloggers, Jeff, Russ, Ruth & Capt Brandi a very Merry Christmas & a Happy & Healthy New Year and look forward to new Jeep & boat cams in 2010.

I am enjoying one of the now World Famous I Scream iced coffee/egg nog concoctions at my desk right now and it is delicious.
No rum in my egg nog, though, sad to say.

Argh, why did I look at that nutrition label? You just made me throw out the rest of my eggnog latte.

Do you get some egg nog at the new rum cart at the ferry dock?
Burt Wolf explained egg nog originally was egg and grog, which was later shortened (certainly in a drunken slur) to “Egg nog” and once it reached the Americas, that’s when rum was included..

Rum was added in America? God Bless America! And a Merry Christmas to all the “On St John” team and readers!

Now, one egg nog, with Cruzan dark, hold the egg nog!
