The best tacos for the money in Cruz Bay are no longer available. At least for now. The Surly Cantina has closed, but its owners promise to reopen someplace else, sometime soon. The rent issue is probably that cold landlord who only wants high rents. WHY lose a thriving business just to raise the rent and hope that someone else will make a go??!!
I am very disappointed in MaryJean and her husband in using the same name. Shame on you guys. Their son wasn’t able to make a go of the spot doing pizza. They weren’t using gloves to make the food as required by VI health code, either!! Get creative and make a new name you guys….

Inflate the rent to the point where you drive out succesful and thriving tentants … all in a down economy. Sounds right.

You can bet Paradise Cafe just got scratched off my list of eating places if they insist on using someone else’s restaurant name. That’s just low. It would be different if they opened a restaurant with a different name and different food. But this is just brand hijacking. And they’re counting on the tourists not knowing the difference.

I ate there once and did not care for it. Low grade meat. Not much value for the money for what you got. Don’t care one way or another if they re-open. Bait and switch on the basic taco pricing. Oh? what do you mean?- you want meat on that taco??- oh, that will cost extra!

It is an absolute DISGRACE what the new owners did and not to mention that CROOK of a landlord!! We had our own experience with him and “THANK GOD” we did not rent from him. He is just a GREEDY JERK! BE WARNED NEVER RENT IN WHARFSIDE VILLAGE!!! We wish the the original owner’s all the best and I am sure they will blow them out of the water. when they find a new space. “WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND”
