The new Jumbie Trail

Friends of the Virgin Islands National Park made the hike down to Jumbie Beach a lot safer in December, removing the old, steep steps and carving out a new trail.

It is just one of many recommendations from the NPS Safety Committee that are being addressed.

Meet Laurel Brannick of the NPS, learn about the Safety Committee and see the new Jumbie trail, below!

I miss the days (15+ yrs ago) when Jumbie was an unknown “locals” beach. You could go hours without seeing another person there. Ah well, a beach that beautiful couldn’t stay a secret forever huh? Have a great day, hope to be there again soon!

If they ever need people to inspect every beach, trail, nook and cranny, etc in Virgin Island National Park, my phone number is….

I’m sure it was a very labor-intensive task that wasn’t as fun as it sounds…but the results will benefits locals and visitors for years to come!

I never thought of that path as “unsafe” … unsafe is the trail by the telephone pole down to reef bay.
