Circle signs!

It’s officially a roundabout.
Signs warning you of what you’re about to enter are now posted near the circle’s entrances. Four entrances. Five exits. (The spoke toward Marketplace is one way.)

Does this mean Roundabout complete or completion soon come?
February 13th, 2010 11:23
How long have they been working on this?
February 13th, 2010 12:35
What goes around….comes around…..
February 13th, 2010 16:27
I’m confused!
Does this mean the island time is over and the roundabout is official?
If so, we need a jeep cam for all of the exits. Sorta like a tutorial of driving on the left side of the road around a roundabout on St. John. Looking forward to seeing it!
Happy Saturday from New Jersey! Snow again Monday night.

I think it would be funny if the jeep cam just went round and round and round…..
February 14th, 2010 00:21
I was just thinking the same thing as Ruth… round and round with the Jeep cam until you’re dizzy, lose interest, or figure out how to get out of the rotary… whichever comes first.

Let’s see, if we drive in the left lane of roundabouts in the US (unless we are exiting the roundabout), do this mean we drive on the right side of the roundabout in STJ?
February 14th, 2010 19:18
I’ll admit to being terrified of this thing. Odds are good I will soil myself the first time I try to drive through it

Rob,
It is actually very easy and nicely laid out.
Just think of it this way, go clockwise. The only concern is the people who just don’t acknowledge that those in the roundabout have right of way over those entering.
February 16th, 2010 08:26
Hopefully they will put up good signage as to where each exit from the roundabout goes. Otherwise, people WILL be going in circles forever. It’s one reason I loved roundabouts when touring in the UK. You go around once or twice reading all the exit signs from it and then on the 3rd or 4th trip around, you move to the left and out you go!

In New Jersey, they have done away with most of the “roundabouts” AKA “circles” – On St. John, they are putting them in – think about it??? Are they going backwards?
February 24th, 2010 00:53
The circle is looking good and everyone seems to be getting the idea. With all the roadwork around the island (Fish Bay, North Shore, Gift Hill, etc) , how do you get someone’s attention to get a short public road paved that is a danger due to all the potholes and uneven areas. Even some of the locals who live up the road have payed for cement themselves to fill in a few holes! The road is the first left turn off centerline after the left turn over a cement bridge. (Before the curve before the old Pastory!)
