A Trunk Bay smile

Baltimore dentist Dr. Scott Hubert, who has been visiting St. John since 1993, has found a way to put his patients and himself at ease: a wall-to-wall mural of Trunk Bay.
“I placed the Trunk Bay overlook mural in my dental office for its natural beauty and its ability to provide comfort and relaxation to my patients,” Scott tells us. “ But it doesn’t hurt that a quick glance allows me an instant change of attitude and escape to my favorite spot.”
Scott, preparing for his next trip for 8 Tuff Miles 2010, also says lots of his patients have ended up booking vacations to St. John because of their time in the chair staring at the mural.
Hmm, doctor. That’s an excellent captive audience. How about selling us some ad space?

I hope those are tropical fish in that tank. It would be like snorkeling while you’re sitting in the chair.

I think I’ve found my new dentist…

What a wonderful idea! I thought my screensaver did it for me every morning – what better than putting yourself there every moment of the day – and you are working! Clever!
Suggestion, move the practice to St. John???
Happy Thursday!

What are those arches? I don’t remember arches…

That would make me WANT to go to the dentist!
Hope his patients use the spit bowl and try not to spit in the bay! Do you think he plays the JeepCam theme instead of Muzak?

He should have put it on the ceiling…that’s where your focus is at the dentist.

Is that a painting or a screen print?

Funny! I found that mural on a website called muralsyourway.com, and it has those arches/railings on the picture. It’s also called “Cinnamon Bay”. So we have a couple of slight inaccuracies here folks…

Uh-oh.
I think someone moved Trunk Bay.

Ha, I was just at my dentist’s office in Annandale, VA and he’s got a water color of Solamon Bay in his hallway – “My favorite place in the world.” Whipped out the iphone and showed a picture of the same vista. Ricky likes.

It seems only fitting that the dentist would offer a “Pain Killer” or a Rum and Coke as a local anesthetic with a view like that

I think the “arches” are supposed to be a balcony railing of some sort. I guess it pleased the artist better than the stone wall that should be there… =)

That’s awesome!!

Our St. John dentist in Cruz Bay has his own real-life “mural” called a window that looks out towards Tortola. When you sit in the chair getting your teeth cleaned you can watch the clouds pushed along by the trade winds. Next time you all come on island go to the dentist here and see the real thing!

Hi all,
Great work on the mural! It really makes an impact on the room. The comments are great and I thought I would just clarify a couple things.
First the mural image is actually Trunk Bay (obviously) and the reason this was named “Cinnamon Bay” is because the photographer wanted the name to sound “prettier” than “trunk” and since the image was largely to be sold as a mainland US product, he felt he was safe in doing so.
Second is the issue of the railing or “arches”. The image was shot in the early 80′s and they wanted a feeling of depth in the foreground. So they printed the mural without the railing the first time and then applied the mural to a wall and put the railing in front, shot the image again and it’s been this way since.
Anyway, these were great points and I thought since we manufacture these, it would be good to share what I know.
Thanks for listening.
