Buddy, the Mojo iguana
Mojo Cafe has a mascot of sorts. He is Buddy, a mild-mannered iguana that hangs out in a nearby tree.
He loves to be hand fed, and his favorites are tomatoes and bougainvillea. Meet Buddy, below!

Buddy! Oh, thanks for posting this. Some of my favorite shots from my visit were of Buddy, and I didn’t know he was an established celebrity. Yet another reason to return – bearing thanks, tomatoes and a print for Mojo’s.

Morning everyone! I have a confession to make. I’ve been missing all the videos because this old computer has neither sound nor video. I don’t call myself a computer dinosauar for nothing! People tell me I can buy “cards” to fix this problem so hopefully soon I’ll do that. In the meantime I experience them through all your descriptions, so Thank-you to my fellow bloggers!
BTW-what are those two big boats front and center on todays Spice Cam? The one on the left is usually docked just pass the black gates but that big honking one is new to me.
Stay safe. Nancie

I watched a big ole’ grandaddy iguana at the Westin during the children’s feed, steal a red sock one little girl had taken off. He took off to the delight of all of the children. These friends of the island are very entertaining except when they do their daily business on your windshield!!

I love when the iguanas hang out by the pool at the Westin. Also, The best experience for my children while visiting St. John was a few years ago – iguana feeding at the Westin. They have changed their policy in the past few years – but, back then my children actually hand fed the iguanas lettuce. How cool! One year we made our Christmas card with the picture “Iguana want to wish you a Merry Christmas” a little play on words. How clever! Happy Wednesday!

How cool! Last year when we stayed at villa Serenity a rather LARGE iguana visited our pool every afternoon. We dubbed him “Quite Mon” for obvisous reasons and we have a few pics of the old boy and what he left behind.

If he’s the same iguana that hangs out in the tree at High Tide, then he’s NOT that mild-mannered. Back in November, I fed him a cherry, which he quickly gobbled, and then that sucker lunged forward and bit my finger up to the second knuckle. It was like getting a dozen paper cuts – bled quite a bit (bartender gave me a napkin to wrap it) and hurt for days. BTW, I wasn’t the only victim – same iguana bit my friend who had just arrived from the States.
I’m done with feeding iguanas – no more Mr. Nice Guy.
