We took this ride in January, what fun. Rock Lobster by the B52s was playing on the radio. The part in the song “down down down” was playing when we went down the big hill,it was a perfect soundtrack.

Now THAT is a typical “island drive”! (And a typical island “placing of the telephone pole IN the road”.)
March 5th, 2010 08:09
That is what you call islands driving! How do they determine where to pave and where to keep stone? I don’t think it would be on my list of favorite beaches. Well, Happy Friday – I need to take my motion sickness pills.

Hey guys, I was thinking that maybe you might be able to concentrate better on your Jeep cam adventures if you had a driver!!! How nice would that be to just relax, shoot video and enjoy the ride!! I will work very cheap!!! Great job on all you do.

I like how the Cam itself made editorial wisecracks about the potholes, momentarily going out of focus. Great ride, as always!
March 5th, 2010 08:58
Yup, that is one bumpy ride. Not a good idea to watch it first thing in the morning.

Could you tell me the name of the tune/composer for the Jeep Cam song? I would really like it to be the ringtone for my cell!
Bah bah bah nam bah nah nah momp!

Was getting worried that this would be the first Jeepcam without any ocean views! interesting to seethe telephone poles in the middle of the road…
I just figured the fade outs were public service features provided by the OSJ staff to give people an idea of what it is like to drive on St. John after too many painkillers and why it isn’t a good idea to drink and drive… Seeing all those holes in the road reminds me of driving right here in Indiana…

Yes! I have an expamle to email friends when they ask me why I am thinking about taking my 4Runner with me
March 5th, 2010 10:23
The ruts and holes in the road are interesting at times. You get to know where they are and automatically know that, “after these three on need to drive on the right for 20 yards, then back left along the edge until…” That works until it rains and things soften and vehicles make all of the ruts and holes move. Then you have to learn your road all over again until the next rain.

I loved it, thank you!! Did you guys take a dip at least in the water after that ride.
I have to head out that way in April……

good morning and happy friday,
great jeep cam. i like the out of focus parts, to many drinks in your cooler and thats a long drive back to cruz bay. yikes! i think there are 2 beaches at lameshur, if you keep driving you will come to a sandy beach. the first beach is a pebble beach. have a great weekend.

always a ride filled with anticipation… thanks for today’s
March 6th, 2010 00:16
remember when that road wasn’t paved? that was serious car fun…or torture
March 6th, 2010 11:42
You passed my car!
March 7th, 2010 02:14
Hey guys, it’s Sunday morning and no new blog entry? C’mon!!! I need my OSJ fix.
March 7th, 2010 20:34
It’s been a long, dusty, bumpy ride for the past 3 days. Sure hope there’s a new entry on Monday.

The next ride may not be quite as dusty or bumpy. The St John Source newspaper says from stimulus funds recieved by the VI National Parks “Lameshur Road will get $25,000 worth of gravel to repair spots like the one near the Salt Pond end of the road where crews recently removed a huge rock that impeded traffic. Hardgrove said that some of the road’s steeper areas will receive a concrete coating. That will also cost about $25,000.”
