In memory of Sidney

Sidney, the jovial owner of Sidney’s Peace & Love on Jost van Dyke, passed away this week after a battle with cancer.
Sidney ran the bar and restaurant on Little Harbor for nearly 40 years.
“I have had a lot of fun and enjoy meeting all the people,” Sidney told us last summer. “It makes you happy and you feel good. You make a lot of friends.”
Sidney’s Peace and Love, famous for its lobsters and pig roasts, will continue under Sidney’s daughters.
They plan a memorial service at Sidney’s Peace and Love on Friday, March. 19.

Oh, how very sad. I never met Sydney, but anyone who names their place “Peace and Love” has got to be a sweet soul. At some point today, raise a glass, smile and make a toast…”Here’s to you Sydney. Peace and Love”.

I wish I could get down there for the Memorial, can not make 2 trips in a month.
Is it Sidney or Sydney?
I think I spelled it wrong when offering my condolences

I’m glad that we had our day with Sidney, but I wish we’d had more days with him.
It is easy to understand why he was so well loved by so many.
My sincerest condolences to his family and all those who will miss him.

“Ya Mon ! It’s gooood dis place”—-I can hear that voice and those words in my head…” How many on your boat ? There’s the bar..” It’s been awhile but what a nice man who wanted everyone to be happy. He truly saw the spirit of God in his life and shared that feeling with many tourists and boaters..among my life’s greatest memories…Thanks to him !!
