A Woody’s wing eating contest
Think you’ve got what it takes to eat a heaping basketful of Woody’s wings faster than anyone else, and do it for a good cause? Next Saturday is your chance to prove it.
Woody’s, radio station The Buzz 104.3 and liquor distributor Bellows International are sponsoring a fund-raising event for breast cancer that they’re calling…wait for it…”Save 2nd Base.” Get it?
All proceeds from the block party will go to the local American Cancer Association Chapter, specifically for the Relay for Life and the charity Living Beyond Breast Cancer.
“We’ve all been touched by cancer and we wanted to do something locally, as well as help a larger cause,” says Woody’s manager Mike Heddy.
There is a $100 entry fee for the wing eating contest, but everybody who enters gets a t-shirt and the winner gets a full day on the Wet Woody’s charter boat.
The wing eating fundraiser at Woody’s is Oct. 23 from 7 to 11 p.m. with live entertainment all night by Kenny Floyd!

One of a thousand million reasons why I love this island….it’s off season, so for the most part the locals are supporting this very serious cause, AND doing it with a great sense of humor. Save 2nd Base! Whoever thought of that name should be on the Woody’s charter boat too…Good luck with the event.

Woody’s wings are the best!!! That is my culinary delight when I am there. Too bad, as a BC survivor, I wasn’t there alst weekend!! I would have kicked ass!
