Great question but it depends on why I am going to the beach. To sit and relax in the sun I like Maho. To snorkel I like Haulover and Hansen. To see turtles I like Waterlemon. To see friends I like Hawksnest. For a lovely early morning coffee I like Jumbie.

I have reasons for liking every beach on St John. But my favorite swimming site is diving off the side of our sailboat.

Lameshur or Vie’s because they are always calm and uncrowded.

Gibney Beach. Number one reason, that’s where we were married. Number two reason, great relaxing, swimming and the snorkeling ain’t bad either. :)

Gibney Beach by far-picture perfect, a pain to get to, . Why is it not on the list?

I also love all the beaches of STJ, but I chose Salt Pond because it is seldom crowded and you can almost be guaranteed of seeing a turtle or two which is always my highlight of snorkeling.

I also vote for Gibney Beach, but I’m actually quite glad it’s not on the list. Drawing more attention to this beach is pretty much the last thing anyone who lists this beach as their favorite would want to do. Those who love it probably know exactly what I mean…

So far I have only been to a handful of those beaches, but one day it will be all! Until then, Maho Bay is the one place on this earth where I have felt truly tranquil.

They all have their particular qualities, but it really depends on your state of mind at the time and who you are with. I will never forget the way my beautiful girl looked, and how happy she was on Maho Beach that day. So it will always be my favorite.

Gibney, and agree with Tom and Martha. So hard to pick just one and Gibney is a pain to park. Maho is great but only if the boats stay out where they are supposed to stay at a mooring ball.

Well, I have been coming to the island for over 23 years – it is really hard to narrow it down to one beach. When we stayed at Caneel Bay – our room was on the “private” Trurle Bay which I believe was the best BUT, now that we own at the Westin, we like to rent a jeep and take a different adventure each day. I have to say that Gibney is my personal all time favorite! My husband would say he needs snorkeling activity, I just need the sun and the blowup float. Make a perfect day!

I visit my sweet, sweet Salomon almost daily…no way I could vote for any other beach. That said, they’re ALL spectacular…and although it’s trendy for the locals to avoid Trunk, it’s still a cut above the rest in my humble opinion.

Oppenhimer/Gibney for lunch, book and a nap…. ahhh
Lameshur and the turtles at sunset….. ahhhhh

Also wanted to vote Gibney but could not remember the name, that’s how low key it is…but Maho is also my happy place that I think of on cold dreary winter days. Really I love them all as long as there are no cruise ship taxis in sight.

And one more thing re Gibney. Greg, Dale and Patr I’m sure you know my trick for capturing the best parking spot near the entrance. We’ll keep that one well guarded.

Jumbie is my fav. for peace and quiet. Cinnamon is great for an all day beach bum event because of bathroom, showers and food. Trunk is nice at sunset. All the beaches on STJ are awesome and have their own little niche’ and I will be laying upon one in a rum soaked haze in 5 days! smiling…

How can you have an election without Gibney?? And by Gibney, I mean Oppenheimer as well. Did it not get enough signatures to make the ballot???

There is a very good reason for not including Gib/Opp on the ballot—and I’m not telling.

The poll was for favorite. Not favorite you don’t mind people knowing about;)

If you don’t know how to park you won’t get to Gibney anyway…

It is quite simply the perfect St. John beach.

Jumbie is a solid but distant second.

I have 2 favs, Jumbie and Francis. But, if you really think about it, each one on the list holds something special. But if I had to pick an absolute favorite, it would be Jumbie.

Each time we visit out beautiful Cape Cod beaches it’s nice, but, someone always comes out and says “this isn’t Maho”! :) Each beach does have it’s something special on STJ & Jumbie is anotherone of my favs~
