The Spice Cam wedding

On the dinghy dock, you see groom Nicholas Mackey and bride Jennifer Sprague, from Cincinnati, exchanging vows with pastor Robert Nelson as 30 of their closest friends look on.

It was a wedding and a race.

“Nicholas and I have never been to St. John before”, says Jennifer, “but a good friend, who has been running the 8 Tuff Miles race for the last seven years, invited us to run with him, and when we got engaged, he suggested we get married while visiting too.”We wanted to get married in front of the Spice Cam so friends and family back home could also enjoy our wonderful moment.”

The job of putting the wedding together belonged to Stacy Mulcare from Ceremonies St. John, and it wasn’t an easy job to pull off.

“The biggest challenge was getting all 30 people to the beach in time, since they were all running in the race, and I knew we only had from 3:05 to 3:20 before the ferry arrived and tons of people would be in the Webcam shot”, says Stacy. “It was one of the most unique weddings I’ve ever planned and the reward came when Pastor Nelson presented them as husband and wife and the entire beach erupted into applause.”

Now that’s a Love City.

  8. Interesting that first timers took advantage of the Spice Cam like this. I woulda thunk that you had to be a grizzled vet to pull something like this off.
