No more Fork in the Road
The famous Fork in the Road on Gifft Hill appears to have fallen victim to vandalism or a bad driver.
OSJ reader Martha Toomey first spotted the fallen fork while walking her dog Friday morning.

What a shame! This is one of those quirky things that says “You’re on St.John.” Was planning on having my picture taken with it when I get down in 6 weeks, so can we start the fund raiser to have it replaced soon?

Having seen every episode of “Matlock” I would suspect that if it were a case of a bad driver, there would be some car parts around the scene of the crime…. I bet someone will make a new fork…maybe out of reinforced concrete?

I think this is the third or so time that the fork has suffered a similar fate…. I’m sure it will be reincarnated.

Stick a fork in it, it’s done. Actually the new fork should be made of plate steel. It will weigh the same and you won’t push it over with anything less than a bulldozer. Looks like a piece of rebar sticking up from the base so it was somewhat reinforced concrete before…
