David Reed and his unusual instruments return to Miss Lucy’s

A cigar box guitar, a suitcase bass drum, a “banjouke,” and, pictured above, a carbon fiber guitar are among Massachusetts native David Reed’s stable of instruments.
David, and fellow musician Mary Knysh return to Miss Lucy’s for David’s 14th season on St. John.
David calls this year’s visit the Analog Man in a Digital World Tour.
Mary brings along her steel pan, flute and mandolin, and together they put on quite a show.
“Reaching down into my song-bag, I am as likely to pull our an obscure ragtimey country blues or funky folk-rock chestnut as I am to toss out a jumpin’ calypso or some skankin’ reggae, David says.
David appears solo every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m. Feb. 22-27 and March 19-30. David and Mary perform together March 1-16 at Miss Lucy’s.
Here’s David’s Website. And here’s Mary’s Website.

My first St. John memory was seeing David at the Banana Deck the eveening of our arrival. He was a duo called Tu Tu Much (we still play the cd we bought there that night.) From that point on, St. John had its hooks in us.
