    Why on earth would take a jab at someone from Canada?
    Keep it classy buy keeping your comments to your self.
    Why would you publish this, Canadians are some of the most well traveled people on earth. These comments are why the rest of the world thinks us americans are idiots. Not to mention does anyone really think the economy is so solid we can afford to alienate people. That Canadian rents a car, from a business, that is owned by someone who took a risk and may have a family and who provides other jobs to other people who don’t live in Chocolate Hole. One word comes to mind after comments like above, Redneck ,
    You all think its a joke, but the bs snobbery on St. John only takes away from the real beauty of the island.

    Jmass10, I agree completely. This isn’t an attack on Canadians! I’d laugh just as loudly if the caption were “Massachusetts is here”. For all we know, OSJ reader Tom might be from Canada.

    Bermuda shorts with knee socks is kind of old-school appropriate, but the color palette is what makes this a real wardrobe fail.

    I don’t know, with the aqua and orange, looks like it might be a Miami Dolphins fan. Maybe he’s a Miamian

    Let’s say The tourist are here and offend someone else.
    You are welcome to change it to the Nutmeggers are here, we are thick skinned in Connecticut!

    So it’s not ok to take a jab at Canadians but it is ok to throw an upper cut at Rednecks.

    Just trying to get my profiling straight.

    Seriously, I agree with Mako. The fact that Jay hpw threw the term “redneck” out there totally undermined his/her comment. While it’s ok to state your opinion on something, hypocrisy in the same statement negates any claim you have!

    Ha! If it weren’t for Canadians and Boston people the island would go broke!!!!

    I think the aqua and orange is very tropical. The socks have to go. He needs to stop for flip flops. He could be Canadian or he could be from here and DC. Either way, I laughed.

    FYI

    Canadian = from Canada

    Redneck = how you act

    Can be from anywhere, usually associated with another word called white trash

    Not offended at all about the original comment.

    We call it community service , sorta educating the ignorant people present

    Personally don’t care for Canada- Toronto is nice, people are nice, well traveled, educated – It’s just not my cup of tea- good grass up in BC too,

    Negates and undermines ? …. Not really – probably a former educator wrote that

    Sensitive….. ?Not really

    Profiling….. Really? You know what the word means right?

    Direct, with no bs, more like it

    Business owner who sees big picture

    Love this blog, if I owned it, I would value the feedback

    I’m a few days late, but, seriously….lighten up people…this is how my dad dresses…not from Canada, not a redneck, has money and loves to spend it, comfortable with who and how he is and if you said anything to his face, he would smile, laugh and keep enjoying his life. He loves the island and what it stands for, which some of you could use a few lessons. Seriously…Live, Laugh, Love :)

    Great picture. Can’t wait to get back to that
    Funny little island where being PC goes out
    The window with all that main land stress.

    This is nothing …. The other day Christmas Tree Martha saw nudity in the parking lot. I’m pretty certain she was not Canadian but you just never know.

    LOL – I didn’t not mean to offend. I was just catching up on my on-stjohn fix and saw you posted the pic. I know all my Canadian friends, after many years at Nortel, would laugh at this post. But, I’ll also concede he might just be a FL Gator fan…

    I’m pretty sure that the garb worn in the photo is illegal in several states….but, outside of that fact, I am fortunate enough to have a wife who would never let me walk out in public dressed like that……..am I am a consummate tourist! I reek of tourism when I am in the Islands!!

    I seriously lol’ed (at work–oops!) at this! I do wish the caption said “Michigan-der” however. Don’t worry I am from Michigan, and sorry if that offends any of my fellow peeps! We took a newbie with us to the island a few years ago and I did a double take when I saw the picture to make sure this wasn’t him! He sure loved his high socks! Even on the beach? (He said his flipper gave him blisters, lol) Too funny! Love the post- thanks for the smiles!
